MECANNO ARCHITECTS SELECTED TO DESIGN MASTERPLAN IN CHINA

The Mecanoo been selected to design the Masterplan of the new "business district" Mecanoo in Shenzhen, China. The Dutch were one of the participants of an international competition, sponsored by Vanke, one of the largest developers in China. In the press release sent to the Building, the Mecanoo revealed that the project in question includes a new business and shopping district will have approximately eight thousand spaces in an area of about 400 square meters that will rely on commercial services, cultural and social. Among these services is a commercial center with a hundred square meters, a market and 16 square meters dedicated to education. In this project, there are also services hotels, office buildings, schools and recreational areas. The Masterplan will be implemented in partnership with the developer, the Vanke, and a local office. The city of Shenzhen is one of Chinese cities with faster growth. In the past 20 years grew from a village to the city's richest country, with a population of 14 million. Like Hong Kong it promises to become a global city in economic terms, and that its population will soon reach the top-5 world. The Mecanoo was founded in Delft, Holland, and to date has 90 employees.
