Norman Foster, one of the most influential architects of the world, is the new Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts. With this award, the Foundation awards grants that recognize the ability of architecture to define our time and advancing the culture. Foster joined in this way the firmament of world-class stars who have received the distinction, as Margaret Atwood, Oscar Niemeyer, Paul Auster, or Woody Allen, among others.
The jury of the Prince of Asturias Foundation has described Foster as "architect of the global age" whose work has a "universal" with an "original domain of space, light and matter." "His work highlights the commitment to the noblest values of architecture, the openness to innovation, targeting quality in all stages of a project, interest in applying advances in technology, global dimension of their professional activity and sensitivity to the principles of sustainable development.
